About Cooper Asphalt
We work where we live.
Cooper Asphalt runs out of Willow Street, four miles south of Lancaster city in West Lampeter Township. Most of our work is within a half hour of the shop.
Central Pennsylvania is hard on pavement. Winter here does not stay cold, it crosses back and forth over freezing again and again, and every one of those cycles pushes water into a hairline crack and widens it. That is what turns a small crack into a pothole by March. It is also why we spend most of our attention below the surface: subgrade, base depth, drainage, and compaction. Get those right and the top mat does its job for years. Get them wrong and no amount of asphalt saves it.

Asphalt Paving
New hot-mix asphalt built from the subgrade up. We grade for drainage, compact the base properly, and lay a mat that holds its shape through Pennsylvania winters.

Parking Lots & Striping
Commercial lots paved, sealed, and laid out with clean line striping, ADA stalls, and clear traffic flow.

Driveway Paving
New driveways, replacements, and widening. Clean edges, correct pitch, and a finish that looks right from the road.

Chip Seal & Tar and Chip
A textured, lower-cost surface that suits long lanes and rural drives, and stands up to steel wheels and shod hooves better than a smooth wearing course.

Sealcoating
Protective coating that keeps water, oil, and UV out of good asphalt so freeze-thaw has less to work with.

Saw-cut patches, pothole repair, and crack filling that stop a small failure from becoming a full replacement.

Permits & Prep
We handle the parts nobody enjoys.
If your drive ties into a state road, PennDOT wants a Highway Occupancy Permit before anyone touches it. Townships around here have their own stormwater rules for new impervious surface, and the thresholds are not the same from one to the next. We deal with that side of it so the job does not stall halfway through.
